Christmas all around - Day 4

To start this last day, we woke up at 6.30am and we jumped in the bus for London. We arrived at Westminster at 10 o'clock where we saw the Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. We walked down White Hall and stopped in front of 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister's residence. Then, we saw the House of Guards where Trooping the Colour takes place for the King’s birthday. Then, we had a look at Buckingham Palace from the Mall. After 30 minutes of walking, we had a break on Trafalgar Square. Some of us sang a few Christmas songs and we bought some souvenirs. Then, we arrived at the British Museum. We listened to several students who gave us a tour of some famous artefacts of the museum. They showed us many different objects such as Egyptian works with Ramses II’s bust, the Parthenon friezes, Indian relics, etc. That was very interesting and we learnt a lot of new things. Then, we visited the museum on our own; it displays many different cultures: Japanese culture on the 5th floor, Chinese and its traditions, Indian bouddhism on the 4th, European and African history, contemporary art on the 3rd one… There were also a lot of sculptures like Moai statues. Unfortunately, we had to leave the museum without seeing all of it: we were running out of time, because we had to go for the Fish and Chips in a restaurant, passing by Covent Garden where we spent two hours.
